Architectural Masterpiece Built In 1967 By A Legendary Visionary ABANDONED When Famous Owners Died!

This fascinating house sitting on the top of a hill at the edge of a city was built by A local legend to the Kitchener, Waterloo area The visionary architect John lingwood. And was commissioned by successful industrialist and owner of Morval-Durafoam Ltd., Keith Shantz in 1967.

Keith Shantz and Winifred McLaren got married in 1973 – It was both their second marriages. They were known for their support of the arts as founding supporters of Waterloo’s Clay and Glass Gallery, establishment of the Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramics,
the Keith and Winifred Shantz International Research Scholarship and other important contributions.

This outstanding home showcases many of John Lingwood’s favourite materials including Wood and fieldstone. Also we see his commitment to complementing the natural hills.

American modernist architect, Frank Lloyd Wright influence of compression and expansion are seen in the small entrance hidden in the back corner where you enter curiously into the large interior.
