I bought an abandoned house in Tokyo for 2000 dollars
Located in the serene onsen town of Yugawara, just a convenient one-hour commute from central Tokyo, this is an update on the $2,000 abandoned Japanese house I’ve started restoring.
In this video, I take you on a detailed tour of the property, showing you its current state after the initial purchase and the beginning of the major cleanup. The project is still in the early, manual labor phase, and this update covers the grind.
I’ll be walking you through the entire process of cleaning the overgrown area surrounding the house, sorting and throwing away the decades of trash left inside, and tackling the critical structural maintenance. A major highlight of this phase is applying a high-quality anti-rust spray paint directly to the external metal frame of the building, which is essential to stabilize the structure before any interior work can begin.
Join me for this close-up look at the real-world challenges, small victories, and grimy reality of bringing an old, neglected house back to life. Subscribe to follow the journey!
